So my PS3 YLODed again last year around November and I've not want to take it in to the same place that repaired it the first time because well 1.) If it was done right it shouldn't have happened a second time and 2.) I can't afford the $100 to take it in. So I bought me a repair kit from ifixit.com and it came in the mail yesterday. Now I'm anxious like crazy cuz I don't want to ruin my board but to fix it myself for less than 1/2 the cost of having 'professionals' do it, I'll take that option. What's got me anxious though is that I've watched several YouTube videos on how to fix the board and since it involves a heat gun, I'm antsy. I've taken computers and laptops apart to replace the thermal compound in the past so I'm comfortable with that, but I've never had to use a heat gun on a board before.
I guess what I'm saying is that I don't want to ruin my board and end up having to buy another PS3. And I don't want to have to take it apart again because the same thing happened. As for that second one, what's the worse that can happen.
My PS3 is a first gen backwards-compatible and I'm not really keen on replacing it because I messed up somewhere.
Blagh i have very little confidence in my diy skills.......
IT WORKS!!! IT LIVES!!!!
